I am Malala Summary

I have finished my novel study for I am Malala. This is the summary that I wrote:

I am Malala

Malala - The girl who stood up for education and rights.

Malala is a very brave girl who stood up for girls rights to get an education, and this is her story

Malala was born on 12 July 1997 and was named after Malalai, a Pashtun heroine.

She went to school like a normal girl and loved every bit of it. Until one day. The Taliban; a large group of bad people who wanted to take control of Swat Valley (the place Malala lived in). Everyone living in swat valley evacuated to the mountains, and the army came to swat to stop the Taliban. They succeeded, but a few years later the Taliban returned. They made laws that girls could not go to school and they weren't allowed outside unless they were with a man.

Malala was really upset about this, so she stood up for girls rights. Her words spread and ended up on tv. More and more people were finding out about her and supporting her. This worried the Taliban. One day, when Malala was going home on the school bus, the Taliban  came in and asked: “Who is Malala?” Malala was with two of her friends. The Taliban shot all three of them. Malala got shot in the head and was rushed to the nearest hospital. The wound was bad, so she got sent to Birmingham Hospital, England. She survived and was in hospital for a long time. When she came out, she had realised that the whole world knew about her. She now lives in England and has started the “Malala Fund” to help people in need of education.

Malala is now (in 2018) 20 years old, and still living in Birmingham. She is still helping those in need and is hoping to go back home to Pakistan.

Malala’s book was very interesting. I learned a lot of new things about how things on that side of the world work differently. I enjoyed reading this novel.Image result for I am malala

  1. Good to read this Campbell. You have included all the main parts and it was easy to follow. It could be good to include your personal response questions in here too.
